It’s easy to forget to look after yourself, especially when you’re busy, but now more than ever it’s important to make sure that you have time for yourself and time to look after yourself. Self care is physical and mental.
For us, the physical side of self care is pampering and doing exercise. Courtney prefers to run whereas I prefer home workouts, either way endorphins get released which helps improve your mental state as well as keeping you fit and healthy. Once a week, Courtney uses her day off work to put a hair mask in, a face mask on, paint her nails and every other week, dye her eyebrows. It makes her feel put together and it’s a routine that she has done since she was 15. I normally put a hair mask in after a long day at work, because working in a coffee shop makes your hair stink of it, and I use a face mask to make sure nothing has seeped into my pores, especially now I have to wear a mask at work and whenever we go out shopping. If I have plans, I’ll exfoliate my body and shave and put some fake tan on as it helps me feel more confident.
It’s also important to have time for yourself, whether it’s just before bed and you watch a series or just taking a few hours away from your phone. It’s easy to get caught up with everything that is going on in the world, so taking time to let your mind breathe and refresh, and not run at a million miles an hour, is important.

Self care is better with your friends
Self care can be a process rather than a single thing. It can be deciding to eat healthy, go to the gym, cutting people out of your life or changing your focus. Just because you don’t see a change in your physical or mental wellbeing instantly doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening, things can take time and routines take time to stick to. It’s important to make self care a habit.
