Moving into our new house

After months away from university and living with all our friends, earlier this week we finally got to move into our new house for second year.
We loaded everything into our cars and drove to our new home. We got there around midday and at first we couldn’t get in, because we couldn’t find the keys that the landlord had left for us. Eventually we found them and began the long task of bringing everything inside. In typical Manchester fashion, it was raining and we had to keep running to our cars.

Before we moved our stuff to our rooms, we decided to move things around. We figured out that wardrobes are harder to move than they look and that our floors are actually slanted. We spent time deciding what cupboards and shelves we wanted in the kitchen because we didn’t get first choice when we were in halls last year so we took full advantage of the fact that we were the first ones to move in. Courtney unpacked all her stuff into a cupboard before seeing a family of spiders in there, and decided to move her stuff. We both got tapestries and fairy lights for our rooms because the walls are quite big so it fills them up and stops it looking so plain.

When we moved in, we didn’t have a lot of food and we were too tired to go food shopping so we lived off toast, pasta and soup for the first two days. We’re currently spending our first few days back watching Netflix together because we’re both obsessed with Gossip Girl and Chuck Bass. Even when we did go on a food shop we completely forgot what we needed and felt like we hardly bought anything. We didn’t like going shopping because people in our home towns social distance better than the people in the supermarkets here.

We can’t wait for all our other friends to move in and for more people to move back to the city from home since we’re all spread around the country. We have some plans for the next few weeks and are going to do some things that we used to enjoy doing when we lived here last year.
