This lockdown seems the hardest for everyone, we don’t have summer or the nice weather we had the first lockdown, or the festive spirit in the second lockdown.
January is a hard month anyway and seems to last forever, it definitely didn’t help being put into our third lockdown days into the new year. With this looking to end a year after the first started it’s hard to know when things are going to get back to normal. That being said, it’s not all doom and gloom and there is ways to help yourself get through it.
Find a distraction
For us this has been rewatching our favourite shows or starting new ones that we grow to love. This is a good distraction and allows you to ease yourself into a false sense of reality, which sometimes is not all that bad. This time around Bridgerton has become popular and is definitely binge-worthy if you are looking for something to pass your time, another favourite of ours that we would recommend is Gossip Girl. We recommend finding a show.
Structure your day
Whether you use a planner, diary or notes app in your phone writing a to do list for the day gives you a sense of productivity. It can be the smallest tasks such as going on a walk, making your bed or having a bath, even the simplest things will help make you feel better. Don’t force yourself to be productive or feel bad if you don’t accomplish everything, you have plenty of time.
Be mindful
This has become something everyone has been talking about on and off social media since the pandemic began. Whether it is reading a book, meditating, gratitude, writing out your thoughts or manifestation you will soon notice the difference. There are plenty of books you can read, apps you can download or people you can follow who will help guide you through these exercises.
Self care
Taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do. You have got plenty of spare time or maybe have evenings off work that you can take some time out to focus on yourself. This might be having a bath, watching a film, doing a face mask, painting your nails or simply putting a hair mask in.
Keep in contact
It is so easy to isolate yourself from friends, family and work colleagues but these are people we used to spend every minute with. Staying in contact with them is vital for everyones mental health and you may help someone who needs it. This is a tough time for everyone so take care of each other.
However you choose to spend your time during lockdown, we can all hope that it will soon be over and life will be back to some kind of normality as soon as possible.
