Finding Motivation

It’s been a month since we last wrote a blog post, and for good reason. We struggled to find anything to write about as we’re stuck in lockdown in different places doing nothing. We thought a prolonged break from the blog would refresh our minds and not force ourselves to find something to write about. Finding motivation is so hard during lockdown, you seem to be stuck in the same endless cycle of being stuck in the house.
Online university has been something we’ve both struggled with. Staring at screens all day and barely moving doesn’t make you feel motivated. It is so hard to concentrate, especially for long hours. It hasn’t got better over time. However, we were lucky enough that our university allowed us to go in one day a week which has majorly helped. It has helped us feel productive and allowed us to engage with our course again.
Another way we’ve found motivation is planning things to look forward to after lockdown ends. We’ve booked to go out for drinks with some friends that we’ve not been able to see during lockdown and are looking forward to getting dressed up and ready. It gives us something to work towards.
One way to find and keep motivation is to use a planner. I always get motivated late at night and when this happens, I write my goals and plans for the next day in my planner. This allows the motivation to be carried on to the next day so it is not wasted.
Hopefully, with lockdown ending and us moving back to our university house we’ll find it easier to find motivation. As we’ll be surrounded by each other and our friends, we can spur each other on to be productive.
